How to Get Divorced in Final Fantasy XIV

Any two players can marry each other in one of several wedding ceremonies that are divided by how much you wish to pay and then your friends can attend too.

However, not every marriage lasts and sometimes you need to break things off because many things can go wrong. For example, you might not be friends with the person anymore, your real-life partner might be joining the game, or the person you married is no longer active and you want to marry someone else.

So, for any of those reasons – we have the option to divorce in Final Fantasy XIV.

So, how do you get divorced in Final Fantasy XIV since the game itself does not have clear instructions for it? Here’s how!

Getting Divorced in Final Fantasy XIV

There are multiple steps that you need to take to divorce a player after getting married in the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding. You can do it both before and after the ceremony, and the method to do it is the same.

The first thing to note is that if you schedule your marriage, you will have a Promise Wristlet and if you have already completed the ceremony, you will need to have your Eternity Ring. Afterwards:

  • Talk to the white-robe-wearing Sanctum Acolyte which can be found next to the Ceremony outfitter. And if you have trouble finding that, then look for the Ceremony outfitter next to the Claribel for the quest called ‘The Ties that Bind’.
  • Trade your Promise Wristlet or Eternity Ring (whichever one you possess) to the white-robed Acolyte.
  • Congratulations (or sorry), your marriage is now annulled and you’re divorced in Final Fantasy XIV.

One thing to note here is the fact that this annuls the marriage only for you. The other player still has to go through this process themselves for a completely finished marriage – but you can still marry someone else even if the other player does not annul their marriage.

The only issue is that they will still be able to teleport to the closest Aetheryte in the game’s open-world if that bothers you.

Lastly, you can still keep your special mount from the wedding ceremony, so that’s one less thing to worry about.
