The Best Horror Games Like Dead By Daylight (2024)

games like dead of daylight

Let’s be honest, Dead by Daylight is a one-of-a-kind horror game, there aren’t many experiences like it. The game does a great job of mixing in coordination amongst the survivors, and the killer. It’s a 4 versus 1 format, and all of the tools are made to sabotage the killer’s hunt for these survivors.

If the killer cannot take down all of them before they fix all of the generators and create an escape route; the killer will lose. Lucky for the killer though, they are a terrifying force to reckon with, either original or from one of Dead by Daylight’s many collaborations.

Dead by Daylight is KNOWN for its collaborations with popular franchises, such as Scream, Stranger Things, Resident Evil, The Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and more! The game is an incredibly delightful romp for all players, especially if you’re playing with your friends.

This is why the game has been alive for a long while since its original release back in 2016.

If a game is as popular as Dead by Daylight; there are bound to be other games that want in on the format’s success! So, we’ve decided to put together a list of games that you should check out if you’re a fan of Dead by Daylight.

10 Best Similar Games to Dead By Daylight

Whether it’s a co-op horror hide and seek style game or a co-op horror shooter; this is a list of the Top 10 Horror Games like Dead by Daylight.

10. Devour

Devour is a 4 player co-op horror game, that revolves around a crazy cult leader who wishes to drag you to hell. Anna, is a possessed cult leader, and to stop her from dragging you to hell with her, you’ll have to play a terrifying game of hiding and seek. To stop her, you’ll have to exorcise her and that isn’t an easy task.

You’ll have to search for randomly placed gasoline, ritual goats, and a fire pit to burn those goats in, not to mention you’ll have to survive from the demons being spawned on you. Your only weapon of defense is your trusty UV flashlight.

What makes the experience similar to Dead by Daylight is the extremely intelligent AI on Anna, who seems to do her job much better than most Dead by Daylight killers.

This is a game that is best enjoyed with a squad of four people; however, you can also play it in single-player mode if you like!

Available Platforms: Microsoft Windows and Mac OS.

9. White Noise 2

White Noise 2 is a sequel to the original White Noise Online and is a game that will remind you of Dead by Daylight in every single way! You can play as one of four investigators, or you can play as the terrifying creature and hunt them down in this 4 versus 1 game design.

Your job as the investigator is to explore the areas while working together with your team to find a route of escape. Make sure to stay together, and to always keep your flashlight batteries loaded because those can stun the creature.

As the creature, however, your job is to stalk and then eventually take out the investigators. Make sure to be hidden away from their flashlights, and take them out one by one. This is a fun game, that will remind you heavily of Dead by Daylight especially when things get intense!

Available Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.

GTFO is an absolutely explosive four-player co-op shooter game. This game isn’t much like Dead by Daylight in many ways, however, it has a strong focus on surviving just like in DBD! GTFO has a strong focus on team communication and coordination, along with a heavy emphasis on gunplay.

The gunplay in GTFO is super tight; each weapon hits different and each encounter gets so intense at times due to the terrifying atmosphere and the different sorts of creatures that you have to fight.

There are also puzzle-solving segments that make it a bit like Dead by Daylight even more. The game has beautiful graphics; and amazing atmospheric lighting, making it one of the most graphically impressive games on this list!

Available Platform: Microsoft Windows.

7. Identity V

Identity V is another game that is just like Dead by Daylight in its design. It has a four versus one format, where a Hunter will halt the progress of four survivors from completing the objectives and hunt them down before they escape through the Exit Gates.

Playing as a survivor, your goal is to coordinate with your team and decode 5 cipher machines out of 7, this works much like the generators in Dead by Daylight and leads to your escape route being opened up.

However, when you’re playing as the Hunter; all you have to do is catch the survivors and strap them to Rocket Chairs. These rocket chairs are just like the hooks in Dead by Daylight. Essentially what I’m trying to say is that Identity V is very much a Dead by Daylight clone, but with way cuter graphics!

Available Platforms: Android, iOS, and Microsoft Windows.

6. Hide or Die

Hide or Die is one of my favorite games on this list! This is a large-scale multiplayer horror game, where players can become corrupted with darkness.

A large number of players are survivors at the start of each game. They must locate abandoned extraction points and turn them on so that they can escape before the darkness consumes them completely.

However, as the game goes on, darkness begins to consume more and more players as they turn into terrifying killers who then become the obstacle between the survivors’ escapes.

I definitely recommend this game to everyone; it is an intense adrenaline-fueled terror rush that is filled with a ton of brutal killing sprees!

Available Platform: Microsoft Windows.

5. In Silence

In Silence is an incredibly experimental twist on the Dead by Daylight formula of hunter versus survivors. In this game, one player takes on the role of a monster known as the Rake; which is almost completely blind yet has hypersensitive hearing.

Now, the survivors (a group of 2-6 players) must try to escape or perhaps try their luck at hunting the Rake down. The best part of In Silence is about how different it is and how many the props in the game matter.

Stepping on a toy, breaking a vase could alert the Rake to your location; however, you could also use this to your advantage and lure the Rake into a trap! It’s all up to you!

Available Platforms: Mac OS and Microsoft Windows.

4. Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2 is the most classic game that you can put on this list. It’s a game where you have so many different options for choosing how and what you want to play.

You can either play as the survivors and shoot up monsters as you move from area to area, or you can do the player versus player mode. In the player versus player mode, you can even play as the monsters! Left 4 Dead 2 is one of the most historic first-person shooter games with the monsters versus humans format, and it’s one of the games that inspired Dead by Daylight.

It is a super fun game, and it has just received a graphics boost so you should definitely go check it out!

Available Platforms: Android, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Macintosh operating systems, Linux.

3. Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia took over the internet by storm when it first came into early access back in mid-2024. It was a game that people extremely needed in the time of quarantine and lockdowns, a game where people could socialize with their friends and go ghost hunting.

It’s still the same game, however much more evolved now! It’s got so many different procedurally generated locations, where you and a stack of 3 friends can go in and find some ghosts!

Your objective is to take pictures of the ghosts, and then escape before the ghost kills you. It’s not exactly like Dead by Daylight in terms of gameplay; however, it is just as intense and even more terrifying!

Available Platform: Microsoft Windows.

2. Deceit

Deceit is a 6 player multiplayer horror game, where you and five other people are put into a map that has randomized weapons and tools to pick up for your survival.

However, one or two of you are actually infected and can turn into monsters to take out the survivors! That’s right. This game is a weird take on the classic game Mafia, where you have to figure out who the traitor is and eliminate them or just run away before they take out every single one of you.

Use the camera flash, pistol, shotgun, knife, and other tools to find out and push the infected back, while you explore the maps and look for the exit route that will lead you to safety!

Available Platforms: PC.

1. Friday the 13th: The Game

Friday the 13th: The Game is one of the most highly requested horror games of all time, and the prime reason for that is being able to play as Jason Voorhees! He is by far the most popular killer in slasher cinema history and has WAY more kills than any of his competitors!

This is an eight versus one game, where you and six other Camp Crystal Lake counselors will hide and run to survive against the player who is in control of Jason. Friday the 13th: The Game gives you a ton of tools to try to survive through hiding, exploring, or even straight-up battling against Jason.

Every single gameplay session of this game is intense and terrifying, what makes this game even closer to Dead by Daylight is that it’s completely in the third person unlike most of the other games on this list.

Available Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows.
