Genshin Impact Skyword Spine Location, Stats, Skills

Genshin Impact is easily one of the last decade’s most popular inventory-dependent multiplayer games. The characters and leveling up alone may benefit you to a certain degree, but even the most minor changes in your build can be highly influential.

Swords may be a heavily discussed weapon in the Genshin Impact, but many undermine the importance of other weapon types, like polearms. They don’t deal the same amount of damage as swords, but they’re quicker and have a greater reach, which is why it’s ideal for getting your hands on the strongest polearms as soon as possible.

The Skyward Spine is one of Genshin Impact’s rarest and most popular polearms and is arguably one of the strongest weapons in the game too.

The polearm’s 5-star rarity and strength aren’t the only aspects that make it desirable. Like most high-tier Genshin Impact weapons, the Skyward Spine is made even more desirable due to its lore.

So, if you want to know not only the whereabouts of the Skyward Spine but also its strengths and lore, you’re on the right page.

The Lore Behind the Skyward Spine

The Lore Behind the Skyward Spine

“A spine that holds up the sky.”

The wind dragon Dvalin never gave up on safeguarding the land of the wind, especially since the formation of its companionship with Barbatos, the Anemo Archon. Together, the two took down the threatening shadow dragon Durin, who wanted to shred every grain of peace away from Mondstadt.

The battle between the two dragons was highly lethal, and without the assistance of Barbatos, things may have been more difficult for Dvalin.

After a fierce contest between the two that lasted a while, Dvalin’s resolve triumphed as he stabbed the shadow dragon with its claws and took it to heights far beyond the clouds. The battle neared its climax above the skies, with Dvalin finally tearing out Durin’s heart with its claws after piercing the shadow dragon’s neck with its razor fangs.

The Skyward Spine is a memoir of the wind dragon Dvalin’s fierce resolve against Durin, making it a sought-after weapon for the fans of Genshin Impact.

How to Get the Skyward Spine in Genshin Impact?

How to Get the Skyward Spine in Genshin Impact

The Skyward Spine can be obtained through weapons and standard wish banners. To be more specific, it can be pulled via the Epitome Invocation Weapon Event Wish Banner and Wanderlust Invocation Standard Wish Banner.

In its early days, the polearm could only be removed through the Epitome Invocation Weapon Event Wish Banner. Still, eventually, the Wanderlust Invocation Standard Wish Banner made it easier to pull. However, the Skyward Spine can never be pulled from the Character Event Wish Banner.

Despite the weapon’s high-end 5-star rating, it can be pulled at an average rate. The idea is to try your chances on the wish banners as many times as possible because the weapon’s strength completely justifies its potential sacrifices.

It may be easier to pull via the Wanderlust Invocation Standard Wish Banner due to the banner’s commonality.

How Strong is the Skyward Spine?

The fact that it’s so commonly pulled is something to be thankful about. The Skyward spine’s stats and versatility ultimately justify its 5-star rating. The polearm starts at a Base ATK of 48 alongside an 8% energy recharge and drastically goes up to 674 BASE ATK and 36.8% energy recharge after being maxed out to LVL 90.

It’s a brilliant Main DPS and an even better Sub-DPS weapon. Its energy recharge percentages fall short, but it provides AoE DMG, Normal ATK SPD, and an extra CRIT Rate.

Its passive skill, Black Wing, increases the ATK SPD of characters by 12% and their base CRIT Rate. The typical attacks also have a chance as high as 50% to trigger some AoE DMG in the enemy’s vicinity.

To max out the weapon, you’ll have to go through the six following ascents for it:

1st Ascension

  • Fetters of the Dandelion Gladiator ×5
  • Chaos Device ×5
  • Divining Scroll ×3.

2nd Ascension

  • Chains of the Dandelion Gladiator ×5
  • Chaos Device ×18
  • Divining Scroll ×12.

3rd Ascension

  • Chains of the Dandelion Gladiator ×9
  • Chaos Circuit x9
  • Sealed Scroll x9.

4th Ascension

  • Shackles of the Dandelion Gladiator x5
  • Chaos Circuit x18
  • Sealed Scroll x14.

5th Ascension

  • Shackles of the Dandelion Gladiator x9
  • Chaos Core x14
  • Forbidden Curse Scroll x9.

6th Ascension

  • Dream of the Dandelion Gladiator x6
  • Chaos Core x27
  • Forbidden Curse Scroll x18.

Best Genshin Impact Characters for the Skyward Spine

Best Genshin Impact Characters for the Skyward Spine

A weapon’s compatibility with the character is a crucial aspect of games like Genshin Impact. A strong weapon alone will never reach its full potential if it’s in the wrong hands.

Characters in the game have varying skills and build, which is why some characters would fit certain weapons much better than others. The Skyward Spine is no exception to that and is optimal when wielded by a suitable character.

Here are Genshin Impact’s most suitable characters for the Skyward Spine: Xiao, Xiangling, Zhongli, Rosaria, Cyno, Thoma, Raiden, Shenhe, Yun Jin, Candace.

Conclusion

The Skyward Spine may be a 5-star weapon, but that doesn’t reduce any chances of pulling it. To be able to pull it, you’ll have to try your luck on the Epitome Invocation Weapon Event Wish Banner and the Wanderlust Invocation Standard Wish Banner.

Despite its top-tier rating, the weapon is pulled at a pretty normal rate. The Skyward Spine’s strength, lore, and rating make it worth all the wish banner sacrifices. It’s wielded best by 5-star characters like Zhongli and Shenhe.

The polearm alone is strong enough, as proven by its 5-star rating, but with a compatible character, it’s an absolute beast of a sub-DPS weapon.
