Elden Ring Best Staff, Ranked

Elden Ring Best Staff, Ranked (2022)

When you think about the weapons in Elden Ring, the first thing that comes to your mind is probably giant swords and spears.

However, the Souls franchise has always been about allowing players freedom with their playstyles. And keeping that tradition alive – sorcery is just as effective and varied in Elden Ring as any other form of combat.

Though you can use some spells without needing a specific weapon, it’s always best to use a Staff for all of your magic needs. After all, there’s a good reason why a powerful wizard never leaves home without a giant stick in their hands.

Whether you want a staff that has great scaling or one that can inflict things like blood loss on your enemies – there’s a lot to try out in Elden Ring.

And to save you time, we’re here to recommend the best Staffs in Elden Ring that you can use in 2022, with all of the recent updates to the game’s balance in mind. Let’s get started!

Best Staff In Elden Ring (Ranked)

There are numerous factors to consider when looking for a good Staff in Elden Ring – but most of it comes down to personal preference. Some Staff can inflict special damage, such as scarlet rot and blood loss. While others either buff certain spells or just scale really well with a specific stat.

So, we’re going to rank the best ones based on their damage and sorcery/magic capabilities, and you can pick the one best suited to your playstyle.

Since the game has received many nerfs and buffs through patches, we’re going to rank based on the current state of things in 2022.

1. Lusat’s Glintstone

When it comes to Staffs in Elden Ring, the one name that will come up in every discussion is Lusat’s Glintstone. And despite all the changes made to the game’s balance so far, it still remains one of the best Staffs in the game.

It has an excellent S scaling for Intelligence, which is amazing for spellcasting of any kind and offers an overwhelming amount of power. That allows you to take on even the strongest of bosses with your sorceries and will make you feel like an unstoppable wizard.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind. First of all, it requires a whopping 52 INT points in your stats if you want to wield it. Secondly, you need to fight two strong bosses called Nox Swordstress and Nox Priest at the same time in order to obtain this weapon.

And lastly, it increases the cost of using spells by 50% to make up for how strong they will become.

But it’s certainly worth the effort for its power and scaling alone. At 80 INT, it even scales at 413 in Sorcery. And it has a hilariously high Physical Attack power of 58+, so if you like to bonk enemies with a stick, you can certainly do that with Lusat’s Glintstone!

2. Meteorite Staff

Meteorite Staff

Staffs like Lusat’s Glintstone are amazing in terms of power, but they can only be obtained later on in the game. So, what do you do if you need something to accompany you in the early game? The Meteorite Staff is an excellent option for those who are just starting off.

Even though it has an S scaling with INT, it only requires a total of 18 INT points for you to wield it – which is unbelievably convenient. Then we have Gravity sorceries, which are boosted by 30% when using this Staff since it is themed after a meteorite.

At 40 INT, you get a Sorcery scaling of 193 – and 265 at 75. Which is good enough to get through most of the game.

However, it’s not upgradeable so you will have to change to a different Staff from this list for the endgame enemies.

3. Azur’s Glintstone Staff

Azur's Glintstone Staff

Azur’s Glintstone Staff is an overwhelmingly powerful weapon in Elden Ring that thousands of players strive to obtain.

It scales amazingly with Intelligence and reduces the casting time of all sorceries – which is a great buff because the animation of casting magic can take a couple of seconds in Elden Ring. It does cost additional FP, but it’s worth the trade.

Unlike some of the other powerful Staffs, this one can actually be upgraded using Somber Smithing Stones. And it essentially gives a 40 virtual Dexterity towards sorceries and incantations, which adds an additional layer of effectiveness.

Last but not least, it allows you to easily use spells like Glintstone Cometshard, Comet Azur, and Comet – and they’re all very powerful spells that can obliterate most bosses. And if you wear Azur’s Glintstone Crown, your sorceries will be enhanced even further by a small margin.

It’s one of the best weapons in the game and easily one of Elden Ring’s best Staffs.

4. Demi-Human Queen’s Staff

Demi-Human Queen’s Staff

Demi-Human Queen’s Staff is for players who like to mix sorceries in with other weapons, like swords and spears. Whether you want a playstyle with multiple options or only use sorceries to attack long-ranged enemies, this is the way to go.

It has a very low requirement of 6 Strength and 10 Intelligence, which allows it to be wielded by almost any player in the game.

And even at just 40 INT, it’s a very powerful Staff that will accompany you for a good part of Elden Ring’s bosses and enemies. It does get surpassed by other options on higher-level gameplay, but it’s a very nice way to start.

You can upgrade it by using Smithing Stones, which is a nice touch.

5. Carian Regal Scepter

Carian Regal Scepter

The Carian Regal Scepter is a very flexible weapon that scales primarily with INT, STR, and DEX – with Intelligence being the highlight as it has a +10 Sorcery scaling at 373 points if you reach 80 INT.

Unlike other Staffs, it has a unique Ash of War called Spinning Weapon – which is as cool to watch as it is powerful. And one thing that it has above others is that it can buff Full Moon sorceries, such as Ranni’s Dark Moon and Rennala’s Full Moon.

It deals a lot of damage and works well with high-level sorceries, without any negatives in sight. This makes it the second-most powerful staff in the game without an increased FP cost.

6. The Rotten Crystal Staff

The Rotten Crystal Staff requires a high INT requirement of 48 – but it’s worth the effort you’d put into wielding it because it inflicts Scarlet Rot damage.

Though it won’t be inflicted upon contact with spells, you can always roll around the enemy and bonk them with it to begin the buildup, which is at a 50 average value. Then you can make a distance again to attack from afar.

That’s not all, it increases the damage of Crystallian sorceries by 10% and it can even be upgraded with Somber Smithing Stones.

7. Staff of the Guilty

The other side of the coin is the Staff of the Guilty, which inflicts Blood Loss buildup instead of Scarlet Rot at a 45 average value.

Surprisingly, it does scale with INT – instead, it has a very low requirement of 8 Strength and 12 Faith, which makes it a decent early game choice too. Though it has no default skill, you can infuse it with the Spinning Weapon Ashes of War which is pretty good as mentioned above.

Then we have the fact that it boosts the damage of Thorn Sorceries by 20% and can be upgraded using Smithing Stones. So, it’s a pretty decent Staff that you can use primarily in early game and as a secondary option thanks to its low requirements if you like using swords too.
