The PlayStation 5 came out a year and a half ago, and it still hasn’t received that many exclusive games so far except for the few like Deathloop, Returnal, and the Spiderman title at launch.
The launch has been a bumpy ride, but the PlayStation 5 has the hardware and the potential to be the greatest console from Sony’s past few generations.
However, things seem to be looking up now. 2022 has finally started and the games that we have been looking forward to with a ton of excitement are definitely coming up.
Sure, we might not be getting a new Last of Us or a new Uncharted game, or even the new Spiderman, however, we are getting a bunch of new games that are going to be highlighted for 2022.

Stray looks like the most refreshing new upcoming action-adventure game.
Developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive, Stray takes on the story of a stray cat, lingering through the urban locale of a visual cyberpunk city.
You go through many sorts of back alleys, rooftops, and neon-lit markets to complete random objectives that further the plot of the game. It seems to be a very fun spin on the interactive gaming genre, and playing as a cat has always been one of the few things we love to do!

8. Gran Turismo 7
Gran Turismo 7 is the PlayStation 5’s response to Xbox’s widely popular Forza Horizon series. Gran Turismo is a VERY different franchise though, as it focuses much more on a realistic, almost simulation-based experience.
Ever since the organ first played in the 2021 trailer, we’ve been hyped for Gran Turismo’s classy driving gameplay loop. This time, there’s way more variation in tracks and cars than there has ever been.
They’ve integrated tracks that are in urban environments, wilder areas, off-road tracks, and of course; professional racing tracks. Not to mention, the car variety scales in streetcars, muscle cars, off-road cars, exotic supercars, and even formula driving vehicles.

The developer Kadokawa Games, a popular Japanese studio most notable for Demon Gaze and Cinderella Nine has recently announced its stylish new strategy action game ‘Relayer’ is going to unleash some interstellar carnage quicker than anticipated.
This strategy mecha battling game is setting out to be one of the most niche games for the PlayStation 5, however, it does come as a much-needed refresher from the vast amount of narrative-driven games for Sony consoles.
Though, that’s not to say that Relayer won’t have an epic storyline, as the studio has deemed it as a “New Age Space Opera”. We’re keeping our eyes peeled on this one, that’s for sure!
Release Date: March 24th, 2022
6. Ghostwire Tokyo
Ghostwire Tokyo brings the end of an era, this will be the final launch exclusive Bethesda game for a Sony console.
Microsoft has acquired the company now and will be owning all of the games published by Bethesda moving forwards. Ghostwire Tokyo is a paranormal haunting, atmospheric game set in a fictional version of urban Tokyo.
You play as a ghost hunter, where your job is to capture spirits that come to attack the world of the living. This first-person action/horror game seems to be a uniquely created horror experience, and we’re waiting with anticipation for its release!

Sifu is another game that is a launch exclusive for the PlayStation 5, an atmospheric, beautifully designed beat ‘em up game that pushes mechanical skill as its main mechanic.
Created by Sloclap, who are known for their indie game Absolver, Sifu is a huge shift in direction yet the gameplay is somewhat inspired by Absolver as well. It incorporates martial arts combat with its narrative-driven, atmospheric settings.
You go from fighting in a shanty hallway to a nightclub, a back alley, and more intriguing urban settings. The main mechanic here is that every time you die, your character ages a little bit.
The more your character ages, the more detriment you get for their health but their skills increase, that’s what makes it such a unique title.

The game is full of mythical creatures, treacherous characters, and even dragons! It’s set within a fantasy world that mirrors a world, not unlike our own, yet retains an element of fiction and fantasy that we all adore.
This game had one of the most unique-looking trailers especially due to the beautiful art design of the game. It genuinely looks like the most creative title coming to the PlayStation 5 in 2022, and we can’t wait to see more of it, not to mention get our hands on it!

Forspoken is the new Square Enix game that has everyone 100% hyped up! This game looks like one of the best movement-based action-adventure games coming out, especially due to how fluid everything feels from the footage we’ve seen.
Forspoken is a young adult, fantasy game that is set within a unique open world full of monsters and beasts as well as priests, kings, and queens.
It’s a game that relies heavily on movement as its main mechanic, even during combat.
The combat itself feels like a combination of shooting and melee, while the movement is a mish-mash of Titanfall and Uncharted. This is the kind of game that you don’t really expect to see in the modern outlet, it’s almost reminiscent of Prince of Persia 2008!

However, the finished product was a completely unique game with a world that lives and breathes.
Horizon Forbidden West continues the original game’s open-world lineage, however makes the world even more treacherous with new machines, new factions of enemies, and a much more advanced enemy AI.

1. God of War Ragnarok
God of War Ragnarok is by far the most anticipated game of 2022, not just from the PlayStation 5 but in general. The game is a sequel to God of War 2018, which was a soft reboot of Kratos’ bloody, ruthless and revenge-fueled journey.
However, things aren’t as simple in Ragnarok as they were in God of War 2018. The scope of this sequel is much larger with more realms to explore than in the original game. Of course, with different realms, they will be bringing their own terrifying creatures for Kratos and Atreus to battle it out with.
Kratos and Atreus’ story will continue, as they must fight to survive this world and the gods that are now chasing after them. They will meet many new characters on this new journey, such as Tir, the Norse God of War War and Angrboda the giantess.
Not to mention, we will also be seeing Thor, the God of Thunder as one of the primary antagonists! There’s more action than ever, the story is more complex than ever, and that is what makes this sequel an outright delight that we can’t wait to sink our teeth into!
